Brittany

Brittany

From Bend, Oregon, Brittany received her BA in English from Wheaton College. She is now in the MFA (Fiction) program at UNLV. Besides cooking, writing, and reading, Brittany loves playing golf and being outdoors. Brittany looks forward to helping students with personal narratives, persuasive essays, and general research papers.

Carol

Carol graduated from UNLV in December 2003 with a BS in Theatre, and in December 2009 with an MA in English. She is now working on another MA in Theatre Studies. Originally from Chicago, she has lived in Las Vegas since 1961. She has three grown children and lots of grandchildren. In addition to her love for the quest of knowledge, her hobbies are entertaining, gardening, and the Nevada Conservatory Theatre at UNLV.


Christina

Christina

Born in San Francisco, Christina studied Communications, with a minor in English, at UNLV. She then went to King's College, London, graduating with an MA in Cultural and Creative Industries. A part-time instructor, Christina teaches ENG 102, and is certified in Professional Writing. In her spare time, Christina likes to tutor children, teach yoga, and travel.

 

Dana

Dana

Dana comes from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and received her BA in English from the University of Pittsburgh. She is now in the MFA Creative Writing (Poetry) program at UNLV. Dana worked as an SAT prep instructor for The Princeton Review and as a Young Writers' facilitator at Intermediate Arts. Besides her interests in film, performance, and somatic movement, Dana likes cooking and biking.

Dorothy

Dorothy

From Santa Fe, NM, Dorothy studied English at the University of Oregon and is now in the MA in English program at UNLV. Dorothy previously worked as an editor at a software book publishing company, as a technical writer at a gaming company, and as a tutor at the UNLV Center for Academic Enrichment and Outreach. She enjoys reading 20th-century American Literature, and literary theory and criticism. In her spare time, Dorothy likes to hike, camp, scrapbook, and give dinner parties.

 

Haley

Haley

From Las Vegas, Nevada, Haley is a senior majoring in English. Modernism, post-colonialism, and South Asian literature are some of her literary areas of interest. Haley works in journalism and editing; she also plays and teaches percussion.

Isabel

Isabel

Isabel is from Las Vegas and did her undergraduate studies here at UNLV. She is now in the MFA Creative Writing program and likes cooking, writing, and art.

Jeanne

Jeanne

A New York native, Jeanne is from Long Island, NY. She graduated in May 2011 with a B.S in Secondary Education with an emphasis in English, and has now started her graduate studies in English Language Arts (College of Education). In her free time, Jeanne likes swimming, watching movies (especially comedies), and reading.

Jeffrey

Jeffrey

From Riverside, CA, Jeffrey studied at California Baptist University and at Loras College. A part-time instructor at UNLV, he has been teaching ENG 102.

Jen

Jen

Jennifer is from Hammonton, New Jersey, and studied English and Journalism with a minor in Women's Studies at Penn State. She has taught English at various community colleges and GED workshops. Now working on her MA in English, Jennifer's main area of interest in literature is Modern Prose by American Women of Color. Her hobbies include running, hiking, and yoga. Jennifer also likes to cook and bake (with a focus on vegetarianism), read and knit, watch television and movies, and listen to music.

Jessica

Jessica comes from Shreveport, Louisiana, and graduated from UNLV with a BA in English. She is now in the MFA (Poetry) program. Jessica likes to read poetry and 20th-century American Literature. Her personal interests include writing, and gender and film studies.

Joan

From Mason, Michigan, Joan studied at Michigan State and Wayne State Universities. Joan is in the MFA Poetry program at UNLV and has taught middle school and high school English classes, journalism, and tutored ESL students. Joan is interested in the Victorian novel and Modern American poetry. Her hobbies include yoga, travel, and hiking.

John

From Staten Island, NY, John studied English at Temple University. After teaching Freshman Composition and Writing for Engineers at City College of New York, he is now in the MA in English program at UNLV. He likes to read Victorian novels, and his main areas of interest are in American Naturalism and Realism, Modern British Literature, and Contemporary Literature.

Regina comes from New York and studied English at Hunter College. A part-time instructor at UNLV, she has been teaching ENG. 101 E/F, 101, 102 and ENG. 231 and 232.

Rob

A graduate of Universite Laval in Quebec City, Canada, with an MA in Linguistics, Rob has taught English as a Second Language for a number of years in French-speaking areas of Canada and in the Middle East. Rob is particularly interested in English verb systems. His hobbies include traveling, reading, and gardening.

Sam

From Tampa, Florida, Sam graduated from New College of Florida with a BA in Religion. After teaching business English and spending one year in Ukraine working with ESL students, Sam is now in the UNLV MFA program in Creative Writing (Poetry). She enjoys reading 20th-century and contemporary poetry and fiction, and her hobbies include travelling, drawing, and vegan cooking, as well as gender studies and languages.

 

 

 

Vivianna

 

Vivianna

Vivianna is from New York, NY, and in the MA in English program at UNLV. She likes the literature of the Romantic and Victorian periods and enjoys hiking and snowboarding when she is not reading and writing.
