Oct 4th - Avoiding Plagiarism Workshop

Join the UNLV Writing Center on Mon. Oct 3rd or Tue Oct 4th in RLL 101 for our new workshop:

Avoiding Plagiarism in Three Parts

12:00pm-12:30pm - The Basics

Writers will learn the basic definitions associated with documentation: plagiarism, annotation, citation, direct quote, summary, and paraphrase. They will also practice identifying inadvertent plagiarism in their own writing.

12:30pm-1:15pm - Close Reading, Annotation, and Tracking

Writers will learn and practice some basic strategies for close reading , annotation, and tracking sources as they write.

1:15pm-2:00pm - Quoting and Paraphrasing        

Writers will learn and practice some basic strategies for using direct quotes and paraphrasing, and will also learn to identify common forms of inadvertent plagiarism. We will practice suing a five-part system to ensure that documentation of sources is complete.

Graduate Workshop 09/30

Calling all grad students, PhDs, and faculty/staff.
This Friday, Sep. 30th, we will be presenting another workshop for you.
Join us in RLL 101 for Advanced APA & Avoiding Plagiarism.
In this workshop, writers will learn and practice the uses of signal phrases, paraphrase, summary, and documentation that conform to APA style. We will also cover the use of tables and images in APA.

First Week of Fall

During the first week of Fall 2016 (08/29-09/02), the Writing Center will open at 10:00am. We will not be open Sun 09/04, and will be closed 09/05 for Labor Day.
 Normal operating hours will resume on Tue. 09/06.

The Writing Center will open for the fall semester on August 29th.

Mon-Fri 8 am to 6 pm
Sun 12 pm to 6 pm

During the fall, you can schedule appointments on the hour or half hour.
