: The OWL
 The Online Writing Lab (OWL)
The OWL is a free service provided by the UNLV Writing Center. Any UNLV student may use the OWL to:
- ask quick questions about writing that can't be answered using our online Writing Tips.
- electronically submit papers to be reviewed by a consultant at the UNLV Writing Center.
Before using the OWL, please review these general guidelines:
- Your submission must be no longer than five double-spaced pages, about 1250 words.
- In accordance with our standard Writing Center policy, we will not edit or proofread papers. By this, we mean that we are happy to work with students to improve their organization and grammar, but we will not simply "fix" the paper without their learning and involvement.
- The OWL generally has a 48-hour turn around time. Give yourself plenty of time to receive a response and revise your paper before the due date.
- Papers submitted Friday through Sunday may not receive a response until the following Tuesday, as the OWL closes on weekends.
- The OWL accepts a maximum of five papers per day. If we have already received the day's limit, you will be notified by e-mail that you will need to re-submit your paper on the following day.
- You may submit the same paper twice, as long as revisions have been made between each submission.
