Aisha

Aisha

From Henderson, NV, Aisha has a BA in English from UNLV. She is now in the Department of English MA program and teaches English Composition 101. Her areas of interest in literature are the 17th and 18th centuries British Literature. Aisha has many hobbies, including hiking, stand-up comedy, and British street fashion. Aisha likes to work with all types of writing, at any stage in the writing process.

Allie

Allie


From Las Vegas, Allie is a senior with a double major, English and French. She is interested in art and Women’s Literature, both American and British, and loves to learn languages, travel, dance, and crochet. When asked what types of papers she likes to work with, Allie says that she has yet to find a type of paper she doesn’t like.

Brett

Brett


Born in Chapman, KS, Brett studied English and Art History at the University of Kansas. He is now in the MFA (Poetry) program at UNLV and teaches English Composition 101 and 102. At the moment, he is very interested in travel literature and his hobbies include travel, contemporary art, live music, and drinking coffee!

 

Carol

Carol graduated from UNLV in December 2003 with a BS in Theatre, and in December 2009 with an MA in English. She is now working on another MA in Theatre Studies. Originally from Chicago, she has lived in Las Vegas since 1961. She has three grown children and lots of grandchildren. In addition to her love for the quest of knowledge, her hobbies are entertaining, gardening, and the Nevada Conservatory Theatre at UNLV.


Ceasare

From Las Vegas, NV, Ceasare has a BA in English from UNLV and is in the MA in English program, currently teaching English Composition 101. The literature of the 20th century interests him most and his favorite hobby is Music, “writing, playing, listening to, etc.”

Christina

Christina


Born in San Francisco, Christina studied Communications, with a minor in English, at UNLV. She then went to King's College, London, graduating with an MA in Cultural and Creative Industries. A part-time instructor, Christina teaches ENG 102, and is certified in Professional Writing. In her spare time, Christina likes to tutor children, teach yoga, and travel.

Clancy

From Milwaukee, WI, Clancy studied Philosophy at the University of Wisconsin. After teaching ESL classes in S. Korea, he is now in the MFA (Fiction) program at UNLV. His hobbies include sports and movies.

Diane

Diane


Born in Provo, UT, Diane has lived in Las Vegas since 1969.  She graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of General Studies with emphasis in English and American Literature. After working as a substitute teacher (high school geometry) for the Clark County School District, teaching private piano lessons, and tutoring middle and high school students in Math and English, Diane is now in the MA in English program at UNLV. Her hobbies include playing the piano, singing, reading, talking with friends, watching classic black and white movies … and Shakespeare!

Elee

Elee has a BFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. For many years, she taught classic drawing in charcoal, bas relief, and sculpture. She is now in the MFA Creative Writing program at UNLV. In her spare time, she is interested in women's studies, performance, dance, and cooking.

 

Ian

Ian


From Mariposa, CA, Ian is a senior in the BA in English program at UNLV. Besides working at the Writing Center, he is also the news editor for the Rebel Yell. He is interested in Victorian and Post-Modern literature and his hobbies include journalism (of course), photography, video games, sports and science.

Jean


From Los Angeles, California, Jean received her BA in English form the University of California, Berkeley. Before coming to UNLV for an MFA in Creative Writing (Fiction), Jean worked with junior-high and high school students in after-school programs. She is interested in Asian American and 20th-century American literatures. Her hobbies include yoga, meditation, and painting. Jean looks forward to helping students with all types of paper.

Kayla

Kayla

From Atlanta, GA, Kayla attended Agnes Scott College and majored in Creative Writing. She is now in the MFA (Fiction) program at UNLV and teaches English Composition 101. Her “absolute favorite writer” is Virginia Woolf and Kayla “loves karaoke, hiking, dogs, coffee, and leopard print.”

Marianne

Marianne


From Lansing, MI, Marianne studied English at Michigan State University. She is now in the MFA (Poetry) program at UNLV. She likes Russian Literature, Modernism, and the New York School of Poetry, and looks forward to working with narrative and persuasive types of papers.

Raluca

From Brasov, Romania, Raluca is a senior in the UNLV Secondary Education (English Comprehensive) program. Once she gets her endorsement in ESL instruction, Raluca’s goal is to teach bilingual education. Before working at the UNLV Writing Center, Raluca taught ESL classes at Spring Valley High School, under the supervision of a coordinating teacher. This semester, she began her teaching practicum at Durango High School. Raluca appreciates the writings of Camus, Barthes, and Dostoevsky. Above all, the sublime character of Eastern philosophy is what gives substance to her educational path. Raluca enjoys working with all types of papers. 

Regina

Regina comes from New York and studied English at Hunter College. A part-time instructor at UNLV, she has been teaching ENG. 101 E/F, 101, 102 and ENG. 231 and 232
ESL Books

Rob


A graduate of Universite Laval in Quebec City, Canada, with an MA in Linguistics, Rob has taught English as a Second Language for a number of years in French-speaking areas of Canada and in the Middle East. Rob is particularly interested in English verb systems. His hobbies include traveling, reading, and gardening.

Ryan

Ryan


From Las Vegas, Ryan graduated from UNLV with a BA in English. After a year spent teaching ESL classes in the Republic of Georgia, he is now in the MA in English program at UNLV. Ryan is interested in the American Literature of the South and loves to hike.

Scott

Scott has a BA in English from UNLV and is pursuing his MFA degree in creative writing. He has tutored for several years and is now teaching English Composition. Besides the obvious interests in reading and writing, Scott also likes to play basketball and tennis, and drink gallons of coffee.

Shaun

Shaun

Born in Galway, Ireland, Shaun studied Creative Writing at the National University of Ireland (NUI), Galway. Before coming to UNLV to join the MFA (Poetry) program, Shaun ran writing and performance workshops. He is currently teaching English Composition 101. Shaun likes Whitman and participates in poetry slams. His personal interests include TV, comic books, film, comedy and acting. He likes to work with papers dealing with art (poetry, books, photography, film, etc.).
